Superior pattern matching capability
As shown in the figures below, the POC (Phase-Only-Correction) algorithm results in very sharp peak (right) when matching originally identical images, compared to a normal Fourier transformation result (left).
Horizontal and vertical or rotational displacements of the same images affect the position of the peak and not its height.
